Mibu-dera

壬生寺

A Ritsu sect temple founded in 991, south-west of Nijo Castle, long visited for protection from misfortune. It is associated with the Shinsengumi, who were based in Mibu in the 1860s, and the Mibu-zuka mound holds graves of its members with busts of Kondo Isami and Hijikata Toshizo.
